Earlier this year I entered into a competition which features some of the most talented architectural illustrators in the world. I chose two renderings that I had done in previous years. One was an old favorite that I revised to better reflect some of the techniques I’ve been working on and the other was an interior rendering that I did for a client in California.
The competition is called Architecture in Perspective or AIP. Each year since 1986, ASAI has sponsored Architecture In Perspective, a juried international architectural delineation competition that has included work by the most accomplished contemporary architectural illustrators from around the world. The exhibition consists of approximately 60 pieces of artwork selected by a jury of respected professionals from the fields of architecture, illustration, journalism, and design education. This exhibition travels to various venues throughout the U.S. and overseas.
Although I was not chosen for the exhibition I was honored to have the opportunity to submit my entry and look forward to seeing my images in the catalogue later this year. These catalogues have become significant resources for the profession, academia and patrons. The catalogues are distributed and sold worldwide.
The premier venue for Architecture In Perspective each year is at ASAI’s annual convention. This year the convention will be held in San Francisco, CA. The convention attracts members from around the world, and its events include the exhibition opening, an awards banquet, seminars, discussion groups, sketch tours hosted by local members, meetings of the membership, and other programs and tours of interest to the membership. I am really looking forward to the convention this year. A chance to catch up with friends and colleagues, learn more about my profession and play a little in sunny California!
